Title: Futurism
Fandom: Harry Potter
Genre: Gen nonetheless written under the assumption that he's hitting that
Word Count: 398
Summary: A letter from G. Grindelwald to A. Dumbledore, circa August 1899. (In terms of one's philosophy and priorities, the phrase Dark wizard means very little.)

Albus—

My dear dreadful school’s treatment of Muggle-borns was in fact one of the reasons I allowed myself to be removed. They ARE admitted, but only as servants—they are forced to answer to those of “purer” descent and are only taught enough magic that they might execute their drudgery without incident. It is only by virtue of my father’s ancestry that I avoided such a fate myself, though the hierarchy at Durmstrang was by no means kind to half-bloods.

In the world as it is at present, I can imagine few things so horrid as being a wizard born to a Muggle family. Imagine learning that you are special, powerful, SUPERIOR to those you have known all your life—one of the Chosen, if you will allow the flight of metaphor for a moment.

But this gift that ought to elevate you instead drags you down into a cloistered and suffocating world. You learn that the world of the Chosen has separated itself and grown fearful and weak, led not by the brave and the strong but by those who are the most afraid. And—worst of all—you discover that by virtue of your birth you are made second-class by those feeble and inbred cowards who have named themselves the Elite. This world does not recognize your power, or reward you for transcending your birth. It fears you and hinders you, because the Elite can only cling to power by fetishising their blood.

The meek have inherited our world, and they have created it in their own craven image. They live in fear of the mundane where by rights they should triumph, and they dread Strength and Progress because they know that their fear has made them too weak to prevail.

It is time that the reins were taken back. It is only natural that Power belong to the Powerful. It is only natural that the strong should rule over and protect the weak, rather than secreting themselves away and allowing their strength to atrophy. It is only natural that the world at large be organised on MERIT rather than yielding to the ease of cowardice.

You know better than anyone how fear and secrecy and artificial division lead only to harm on all sides. It is unjust and counter to the natural order of the world, and it should not be allowed to stand.
